Crafting eligibility

Compatible base
The selected stat must belong to the item's normal compatible-stat pool. Primary weapons keep their weapon-family restrictions.
Item-level cap
One additional maximum tier unlocks every 10 item levels. A craft cannot exceed the tier unlocked by the item's own level.
Skill Heart exception
Skill Hearts appear in the standard Crafting panel but do not use this direct item-level tier cap. Their crafts are limited by the Heart's signed total-strength range instead.
Affix cap
A new stat cannot be added after an item reaches 8 affixes, but an existing compatible stat may still be upgraded.
Higher tiers only
An existing stat can only move higher. Its value rerolls when crafted.
Crafted roll ceiling
Crafted affixes roll only within the lower 70% of the target tier's natural value range. Perfect natural rolls remain exclusive to found loot.
Matching fragments
Only fragments for the selected stat pay its cost; other fragment types cannot substitute.
